Curtains! Stagemasters Returns To Full Musical Theater

By Elizabeth Bahena

Next month, Barrington High School’s Stagemasters are performing the highly under-appreciated musical Curtains, directed by our very own Mrs. Meaghan Corr.

Curtains follows the in-show failing musical Robbin’ Hood when on opening night, the lead actress is murdered!

Every cast member is a suspect, and Lieutenant Frank Coffi— who happens to be a ginormous fan of musical theater— is on the case. As the layers of the mystery murder unravel, cast members are slowly being picked off one-by-one, and Lieutenant Coffi is running out of time to crack the case.

This murder mystery/comedy will take the stage in the John G. Gray Auditorium on November 18-20 with a show each night starting on Friday and ending Sunday afternoon.

It’s a can’t-miss experience and cast members report they´ve had a ball prepping for the show.

Freshman Liam Campos (Harv) expressed his excitement for his first high school play, adding that this whole experience has been “really fun so far.”

Sophomore Margaret White (Niki) shared the same sentiment: “Rehearsals are going very well,” White said. ¨We’ve had great bonding without COVID restrictions.” When asked for a review of the show,

And sophomore Echo Dhillon (a member of the Ensemble) gave her one-word review of the production so far: “Suspenseful.”

Co-choreographer and Junior Maya Gomez Del Campo revealed that the show has been progressing smoothly and efficiently.

“The kids are learning faster than before and we have already completed Act I,¨ she said.

Director and BHS English teacher Mrs. Corr shared the same feelings as her cast and crew.

“This whole thing has been so much fun,¨ she said. ¨I think it will be neat to tell a story with music and dance, which is something we haven’t done in two years because of COVID.

“I think Curtains is a relatively unknown musical and anyone who comes to the show will have an amazing time,” Mrs. Corr added.

So, next month, bring your friends and family and show support to our amazing BHS students who will be sure to give you a thrilling showcase for the fall play!
